Government not planning to extend the stamp duty holiday
The government doesn’t plan to extend the stamp duty holiday, which is due to expire at the end of March. A petition was launched, which gained 22,156 signatures at the time of writing, asking for a stamp duty holiday extension for an additional six months. In response, the government said: “The SDLT holiday was designed to be a temporary relief to stimulate market activity and support jobs that rely on the property market. “The government does not plan to extend this temporary relief.”
