Does your asking price affect your chances of finding a buyer? October's figures reveal that around 1 in 6 homes priced below £250,000 agreed a sale, compared with just 1 in 53 above £5 million. Discover why different price brackets move at different speeds and what this means for Attleborough sellers.
The higher the asking price, the smaller the proportion of homes finding a buyer in October.
Around 1 in 6 homes priced below £250,000 agreed a sale during the month. Between £250,000 and £500,000, that fell to around 1 in 8. Above £5 million, it was around 1 in 53.
It is a reminder that the property market moves at different speeds. A national headline will not necessarily reflect what is happening in Attleborough, your price bracket or for your type of home.
That is why over the weekend, I will be publishing the stats for Attleborough. These figures show the proportion of homes agreeing a sale in the last month. They do not mean that homes which remained available will never sell, or that every unsold property is overpriced.
For anyone thinking of moving, the key is to understand the competition. Buyers compare your home with the other properties their budget will stretch to. Your asking price, presentation and marketing all help shape that comparison. If your home is attracting little interest, it is worth reviewing the evidence with your estate agent.
